Darnell-Cookman School of the Medical Arts continues to grow its club offerings, with new organizations giving students more ways to express creativity and connect with others. As the years go on, more students are creating clubs to bring together people with shared interests and passions.
Students at Darnell-Cookman show their creativity through a wide variety of clubs. Some students who are interested in history may join Rho Kappa, while others who enjoy gaming may connect through clubs centered around shared hobbies. The growing number of clubs reflects how passionate and involved students are on campus.
Two of the newest clubs that stand out are Paper Hearts and the Afro-Caribbean Club.
Paper Hearts focuses on helping the community by spreading kindness through handmade creations such as origami and cards. The club creates items designed to encourage and uplift others. Recently, members made cards and origami butterflies for new mothers at a housing center for young moms. The leaders of the club are clearly passionate about serving others, and their work has already made a positive impact.
Another new addition is the Afro-Caribbean Club, which aims to celebrate and share Afro-Caribbean culture through food, traditions, and community events. The club plans to host activities such as potlucks and games to help bring members together.
The club has also hosted a guest speaker who shared her experience pursuing the American dream. Originally from Nigeria, she became an immigration lawyer and spoke about her journey and life experiences, giving students insight into different perspectives and cultures.
These new clubs highlight the creativity and diversity of students at Darnell-Cookman. As more clubs continue to form, students have even more opportunities to get involved, build connections, and make a difference both in school and in the community.
