Last year, we had the BSU African American Show. If you didn’t already know, BSU stands for Darnell’s Black Student Union, a group that focuses on showcasing Black culture and history for students. The show, which many students enjoyed, sadly came to an end because of an incident that occurred. Before that, however, it was well received and appreciated by many in the school community.
This raises the question: will the show return for a part two this year? As February approaches, it would make sense for students in BSU to begin announcing and advertising any upcoming events or performances. This year, I am hoping for a more historical approach that highlights uplifting and influential figures in Black history.
One thing I would especially like to see is a music section included in the performance. This could show the importance of how Black people have influenced the music industry. Another idea would be for students to dress up as influential figures to help bring that history to life.
