Vikings – it’s finally here! Darnell-Cookman’s first online newspaper is finally live (but you know that because you’re reading this). Our goal is to publish relevant stories for our students and faculty that give timely updates about the news of our school. We also will strive to publish features about the students, teachers and faculty who make Darnell-Cookman, as well as many of the issues that we care about.
You might wonder about our name. We chose The Monitor because it bridges the gap between who we are at Darnell-Cookman and what this publication is striving to be. As a medical magnet, we know that the heart monitor keeps track of a patient’s heartbeat, and is symbolized in our banner by the red waves moving from left to right. That word, “monitor,” also means “to observe” and “to keep track of.” The Monitor will work to keep track of the pulse of our school in order to keep you up-to-date about what is going on.
Please take the time to read through the articles posted in this first edition. We will be hard at work over the break putting together more stories in hopes that this site will be one you will visit often when looking for news about our school.
If you would like to write an article for The Monitor, please send your completed story or story idea to [email protected] Please note that all stories become the property of Darnell-Cookman and The Monitor and, if approved, will be edited for content and propriety.
